A. Preservation and Cost to Libraries
Digital data are considered as part of the Libraries’ active and ongoing collection management activities. The Depositor Agreement specifies the extent of the Libraries’ commitment to preservation and any author responsibilities pursuant to university and funder policies. The Libraries’ initial commitment to preservation for digital data is for a period of 10 years, after which active collection management and review policies will be applied. Due to limited resources, materials are favored for which there is evidence of use, or strong evidence of projected future use. Levels of use may change over time. The Libraries’ reserve the right to de-select data files that no longer meet an acceptable level of use for research and teaching at MSU, and/or are unduly resource-intensive to maintain.
