Building a Website with Wordpress: Creative Commons Image Search

This guide walks you through how to build a website using WordPress. It covers web hosting, installing WordPress, installing themes and plugins, and using the in-browser editor to adjust the theme (header image, colors, fonts, etc.).

Searching Creative Commons

To find open-copyright audio and images:

  • Go to https://search.creativecommons.org
  • Make sure the checkbox "modify, adapt, or build upon" beneath the search box is selected
  • Choose one of the tiles depending on what type of media you'd like to search for
  • Once you've found something you want to use, make a note of what the copyright license says (it usually just requires attribution)
  • Make sure you note in your project the user name of whoever created the files you're using, and link back to where you found it
