Getting a Book

When you find a book through the library's website, you will see a call number which tells you where the book is located in the library.   The example record below shows you the call number ((e.g. E302.5.E45 2000), the branch the library is located in (e.g. Main Library) and the item's status (e.g. Available).

If the book's status is "Available", you can find it in the library using the call number and the orange "Map It" button (click that for a map of where the book is in the library).

If the book's status is anything other than "Available", click the purple "Get It" button for a list of ways to get the book.

Once you have the book, take it to the check out desk on the first floor.  You'll need your MSU ID to check it out.  Undergrads can check out a book for 3 weeks, but you can also renew a book online by logging into your library account.

Author Search

To search our library for works by a particular author, use the library catalog (second tab on lib.msu.edu).   Type in last name first (e.g. Adams, Abigail).

You may get several choices, as in the example below.  Click on the one you want to see the titles we have.
