The National Map is a collaborative effort among the USGS and other Federal, State, and local partners to improve and deliver topographic information for the Nation. The NEW interface for finding and downloading historical USGS topographic maps, 1880-2010. USGS topos. Maps available in kml, geoPDF, and geoTIF.

This provides access to all scales (1:24,000 through 1:250,000) but you must know the sheet name. It will download as a .zip file but will unzip into a PDF.

List of USDA Soil Conservation Service soil surveys of the United States, usually county-by-county. Many are linked to full text access online. MSU Libraries also has paper copies of most soil surveys.

The 2012 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is the standard by which gardeners and growers can determine which plants are most likely to thrive at a location. The map is based on the average annual minimum winter temperature, divided into 10-degree F zones.

For the first time, the map is available as an interactive GIS-based map, but also provides static state images.

With Streamer you can explore our Nation's major streams by tracing upstream to their source or downstream to where they empty. In addition to making maps, Streamer creates reports about your stream traces and the places they pass through.

The Atlas presents GIS data, maps and text complete data about the creation and all subsequent changes in the size, shape, and location of every county in the fifty United States and the District of Columbia. It also includes non-county areas, unsuccessful authorizations for new counties, changes in names, and the temporary attachments of unorganized counties. The principal sources for these data include the session laws of the colonies, territories, and states.

Mapping Inequality provides 150 interactive maps of US Cities and roughly 5000 individual area descriptions to get a view of Depression-era America when developers, realtors, tax assessors and surveyors worked with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board to codify and expand practices of racial and class segregation by denying home loans to undesirable neighborhoods.

Home Owners Loan Association (HOLC) maps made in the early 20th Century of about 30 US cities, marking out desirable and undesirable neighborhoods to aid in strengthening segregation.

This large repository of maps and charts primarily consists of nautical charts (waterways) of US coastal areas and the Great Lakes and aeronautical charts (airspace) of the US. Images are downloadable as high res jpgs.

This collection is especially rich in maps of New York city, New York state, and the United States, though it does contain some maps of other parts of the world.

Type in your address (or any address) and it lists the broadband providers that provide service to the census block. It doesn’t guarantee service information to an exact building, but a census block is not very big, so that is pretty good.

The Crop Land Datalayer (CDL) is a raster, geo-referenced, crop-specific land cover data layer created annually for the continental United States using moderate resolution satellite imagery and extensive agricultural ground truth. Data are available 1997-present.

EJView, formerly known as the Environmental Justice Geographic Assessment Tool, is a mapping tool that allows users to create maps and generate detailed reports based on the geographic areas and data sets they choose. It includes sites reporting to the EPA (toxic release, brownfields, etc.), water monitoring stations, health service areas and health indicators, and demographic variables. An area can be defined with the 'draw' tool to generate a tabular report which can be looked at, printed, or copied and pasted. No shapefile export.

Death certificate data from the National Vital Statistics System — deaths, death rates, and years of potential life lost (a measure of premature death) by specific causes of injury mortality and common causes of death.

This grouping of data is curated by the Mapping and Analysis Center of FEMA including flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.

At the next screen crane your neck past all the fine print and choose a state and county from the pull down lists. Once you are in the map, you can’t pan around the state – the pipeline data will only display for the county you selected. To change counties, go back to the pull down list and choose the new county.

Policymap is an online data and mapping application that gives access to over 15,000 indicators related to housing, crime, mortgages, health, jobs, demographics and education. Data are available at all common geographies (address, block group, census tract, zip code, county, city, state, MSA) as well as unique geographies like school districts and political boundaries. Data come from both public and proprietary sources. Many of the public files are available for download. Through PolicyMap, you can access all data in interactive maps, tables, charts, reports and through a unique analytic tool. This link is to the free version of the interface.
