Creating Stable Links to Electronic Articles: DOI

This guide describes how to create stable links to articles licensed by the MSU Libraries.

Creating Links using a DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

Stable links can also be created using DOIs (digital object identifiers). Using a DOI to create a stable link might be especially useful when accessing a journal through a vendor/publisher NOT listed in this guide.

To create a stable link using a DOI, you must first locate an item's DOI - this is usually listed in the article citation (see below). You may also find DOIs listed here: http://www.crossref.org/guestquery.

To create the stable link, begin with "http://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/" and then add everything after "doi" in your article. The stable link for the article shown above would be: http://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1128/AAC.00502-11.
