This checklist provides a searchable database of the fire insurance maps published by the Sanborn Map Company housed in the collections of the Library of Congress Geography and Map Division in Washington, DC. The online checklist also contains links to those images that have been scanned from the collection. Only a small percentage have been scanned to date. Look for those cities marked with an asterisk (*).
The Kentucky Sanborn® Maps Collection brings together over 4,500 map sheets representing over 100 Kentucky cities and towns. The maps show property lines, buildings with construction and insurance characteristics and addresses.
The holdings range in date from the 1880s to the 1950s and cover more than 150 cities and towns across the state. North Carolina Maps features online all of the North Carolina Collection's Sanborn® maps produced through 1922.
