Mergent Databases Introduction

Mergent EventsData

Getting Started

When you first enter Mergent EventsData, you'll want to click the "Enter Mergent EventsData" in the upper left hand column. The main page shows the list of recent events that can be filtered by date at the top of the page or by type using the right hand column. However, you can search for specific events using the navigation in the left column. You can find corporate actions, dividends, unit investment trusts, fixed income, and municipal called bonds.

Basic Search

Clicking on each name (corporate actions, dividends, unit investment trusts, fixed income, and municipal called bonds) will lead to a search screen over each one that allows you to search by different criteria. After clicking into one, the navigation moves from the left column to the top of the page. There is a help box to the right of each search box. If I was looking for dividends for Ford Motor Company, I would go to the Dividend tab. I would put F in the ticker box, and I could narrow down by date or look at them all. I would click on the CUSIP to see the report. It shows dividends including historical. In the right hand column, you'll see navigation that leads to other parts including corporate actions IF it is available. For example, if you are looking at Dividends, UIT and Fixed Income are not available. Unfortunately, the data cannot be downloaded.
