Use these selected indexes, to find citations to articles. Sometimes the full text will be available right there. Usually there will be an abstract,
which is a summary of the article. Look for the Find Text @MSU link or,
in PubMed, a green button indicating access to the electronic version
of the article. Searching Tips
Most databases, including PubMed, CINAHL, and the Libraries' Online
Catalog require knowledge of Boolean Operators for effective searching.

- CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health) (1982-present)
Searching CINAHL will allow you to find articles in many different
scholarly speech-language pathology journals such as Journal of
Speech-Language Pathology; Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in
Schools; Dysphagia; Aphasiaology; and Journal of Speech, Language and
Hearing Research.
- PubMed
PubMed/Medline is the premier database for the literature in
biomedicine and allied health. Use this if your topic is more clinical
or deals with a medical disorder..
- ERIC (1966-present)
The major index to materials in all areas of education including
speech-language pathology. Use this if your topic covers schools or
children.
- PsycINFO (1887-present)
This database contains citations to articles, conference proceedings,
books, reports and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines.
Use this if your topic gets more into psychological areas.
