Journal Articles

CSD research and practice integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines. Due to this interdisciplinary nature, you may need to search several relevant databases to locate articles and other literature.

CINAHL (Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature) provides references to articles for speech language therapy from a clinical or medical perspective. CINAHL provides references to nursing, allied health, biomedical, and consumer health journals including legal cases, clinical innovations, research instruments, selected conferences and proceedings, standards of professional practice, book chapters, patient education materials, educational software, and audiovisuals.

PubMed is the major database for medicine.  This will be a great place to come for articles with a more clinical, research, or anatomy and physiological approach.

Provides citations for journal articles in language acquisitions, linguistics and speech language pathology disorders.

Major resource for finding articles in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines.  This is a great place to find research on the psychological aspects of speech and language disorders.

The major database of materials in all areas of education. Retrieves articles on speech, language, hearing disorders and services in an educational setting.

Here is an example of an electronic journal citation:

American journal of public health (1971)  (0090-0036)

from 01/01/1971 to present in HighWire Press

Cant find it in the A-Z E Journal list?

If your journal does not show up here, check the library catalog.  You will need to do a "Journal/Periodical Title" search for that periodical in the library catalog.

The results will begin to tell you whether or not the library subscribes to the journal and has the issue that you need, in a print or digital format.

If the article is in Print only you can have a copy emailed to you free through our new MARS system

If MSU does not subscribe to the journal, you can request it through Inter Library Loan
