Even though this year's women in science Wikipedia-edit-a-thon was canceled, you can still help to improve the coverage of women’s contributions to science in the comfort of your own home!
Only 18% of Wikipedia’ English language biographies are about women and we can improve the gender gap by creating and editing articles about women in science. Instead of creating new articles, follow the instructions below to edit and add to existing Wikipedia articles about women in science.
To get started editing and contributing to Wikipedia, Wikipedia strongly recommends you create an account. You can create an account here.
Once you have created and logged into your account, you will be able to start making edits to existing articles. For a simple guide to making edits see this simple guide for new Wikipedia contributors: tiny.cc/MSUWiki.
Below is a list of Wikipedia articles about women in Astronomy and Astrophysics that need editing. Underneath each link you will find notes about what is wrong with each article. Some articles need simple copy editing, others need to be expanded and most need additional citations to support the information in the article.
If you have questions, or would like to update the list below, email Erika Weir.
Happy editing!
