Olds Hall

Dedication plaque (interior, north entrance, mounted on wall) Text of plaque - "1917 The R.E. Olds Hall of Engineering   Erected on the Foundations of a Similar Building Which Together With the College Shops Burned With Almost Total Loss of Structures ad Contents March 5, 1916."

  • After the first Engineering Building built in 1907 in this area burned, acting President Frank Kedzie approached Ransom E. Olds of the REO Motor Car Company to give $100,000 for a new building.  The new building was constructed to be almost identical to the one that burned and subsequently name for its donor. The R.E. Olds Hall of Engineering was dedicated on June 1, 1917.
