History of the Book

The official journal of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading, and Publishing (SHARP). SHARP is perhaps the foremost international academic association focused on the broad history of the book.

A long-running quarterly that publishes on all aspects of book history and its allied disciplines. From its website: "scholarly, but not oppressively academic, with a plurality of contributors, unparochial in place or profession, whose common aim is to share their enthusiasms and knowledge about books, so as to be accessible to all."

A seminal journal of bibliographical research emanating from the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia. Fredson Bowers was the founding editor. Also available in print at Z1008.V55.

The journal of the American Printing History Association, issued twice a year, which "publishes scholarly articles on the history of printing, publishing, books, type, typography, paper and related industries." The journal is international in scope, despite the organization's name. Some issues also available in Special Collections.

The official annual of the Gutenberg Society. Though based in Mainz, Germany, this journal does include some articles in English.
