HM 832: Citation Management Software

Citation Management Software

Using some form of citation management software is highly recommended.  There is a variety of options, but all help you collect, organize, and then put citations into your papers with proper citation style formatting.

Which Citation Manager Should I Choose?

For more information on which citation manager to use, see the following sites:

EndNote & EndNote Web

EndNote is installed on all of the Windows-based Microlab workstations around campus, including the "Full Set of Applications" workstations in the Library. You may purchase a copy of EndNote for your own computer at the MSU Computer Store.

On a Microlab computer to use Word with EndNote and have the interconnection of the two work together; you must start EndNote first before opening Word. EndNote stores some files temporarily when it opens that Word needs to have the interconnection.

Current MSU students, faculty, and staff can access EndNote Web through the Libraries' subscription to any of the ISI Databases, like Web of Science. Look for the 'My EndNote Web' link in the top right-hand side of any of the ISI Databases. Off-campus access requires a MSU NetID and password.

The first time you use EndNote Web through one of the ISI Databases, you will need to register for a free EndNote Web account. The help screens are very user friendly.

There is a much more substantial and detailed EndNote and EndNote Web guide here
