MSU Libraries' COVID-19 Response

  • Our Online and Distance Learning Resources page has helpful information on finding and accessing library materials remotely. Additional points about our COVID-19 response:
    • Library staff are mailing books to faculty, staff, and students off campus.
    • Library online resources are available 24/7.
    • Books can be returned to the building book drops and are quarantined for a minimum of 5 days (materials will clear from your patron account after quarantine).
    • The Main Library is currently open with reduced hours: 9 am- 5pm Monday - Friday.  Confirm this on the library's home page.
    • Library staff will retrieve books and other materials for you (most of the building is currently closed for safety).
    • If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Ladenson and/or Eric Tans or use the Ask a Librarian service.
    • Need help with accessing electronic resources? Contact Discovery Services at 517-353-8700 or reachout@msu.edu .

Library Collections and Services

  •  The Digital Scholarship Lab features cutting-edge technologies that may be new to many scholars, faculty, researchers, and librarians. It also features infrastructure and support for more known digital practices like scanning/digitizing, text mining, and data management. Access to the lab is currently available by appointment.
  • The Stephen O. Murray and Keelung Hong Special Collections features our vast holdings of rare, historical, and valuable items. The collection is also strong in political radicalism and popular culture materials.
    • Items from the collection can be requested online.
    • Access to the Stephen O. Murray and Keelung Hong Special Collections reading room is currently available by appointment.
    • Materials from Special Collections are for building use only, but photos, scans, or copies of materials may be possible depending on the nature of the material.

Interlibrary Loan

  • Can't find what you are looking for at the MSU Library? The Get It @MSU service allows users to borrow materials from other libraries and receive electronic deliveries of print materials.
