The CMC exists as a chronicle of the contemporary men's movement since the late 1960s. Its focus is on men and many of the issues facing men today as husbands, fathers, and sons. The collection's intent is to be comprehensive and to accept donated material from individuals, groups, and organizations whose work focuses on the lives of men living today. Special collecting attention should be given to groups with worldwide significance such as the ManKind Project.
Collecting does not include man child love, children's rights, pop psychology, and other New Age publications.
