Bloomberg User Guide

This is a guide for getting started with our Bloomberg terminal.

Searching by Company Name or Ticker

Search by Company Name

Type company name at cursor prompt and hit the < help> key
Example: Limited Brand  < help> < go>

Search by Ticker Symbol

Find the ticker symbol for the company:
Type TK < go>
Enter the company name < go>

If you know the ticker symbol for the company go directly by entering:
Ticker Symbol < equity> < go>

Company Financials

Enter:

Ticker Symbol < equity> < go> and then choose Fundamentals and Estimates

Or go directly by entering:

Ticker Symbol < equity> FA IS < go> for Income Statements
Ticker Symbol < equity> FA BS < go> for Balance Sheets
Ticker Symbol < equity> EE < go> for Earning Estimates
Ticker Symbol < equity> HE < go> for a Price/Earnings Ratio Table

Tip: For definitions and information on calculations in a company's financial statement type FDO < go>

Historical Stock Prices

Enter:

Ticker Symbol < equity> < go>, then choose Charts & Tables

Or go directly by entering:

Ticker Symbol < equity> HP < go> for table with avg daily volume
Ticker Symbol < equity> GP < go> for graph with volume
Ticker Symbol < equity> GPO < go> for price with moving average

Comparative Analysis

Compare one company to another company or to a stock index.

Enter:

Ticker Symbol < equity> Ticker Symbol < equity> < go>

Analyst Recommendations

Enter:

Ticker Symbol < equity> < go>, and then choose Company Research

Or go directly by entering:

Ticker Symbol < equity> ANR < go>

Find Options

Enter:

Ticker Symbol < equity> < go>, and then choose Options, Warrants, Converts...

Or go directly by entering:

Ticker Symbol < equity> OMON < go> (OMON = Option Monitor, which will provide all current and future calls and puts for the equity)

Supply Chain Data

Enter:

Ticker Symbol  < equity> SPLC < go> for suppliers and customers graph. This data is also available in table format.

ESG Ratings

Ticker Symbol  < equity> 

Type FA ESG and < Go>

 

To screen for a list of companies:

Type EQS and hit the green <GO> key.
Click on the Fields button.
Then, expand the menu for Fundamentals, then Bloomberg Fundamentals, then ESG to see a list of available variables.
Bloomberg also has a number of analytical templates available by entering ESG and the green <GO> key.

You can also use the Bloomberg Excel Add-In to pull data into Excel.
