Finding British Parliamentary Papers in the M.S.U. Libraries, Collections Guide No. 6, 2000 edition

This is an older guide, emphasizing primarily print and microform information, which we have retained in order to be able to provide reference service using the old-fashioned sources, in case the more frequently consulted electronic sources described in the 2007 Finding Parliamentary Papers guide prove insufficient.  The purpose here is to describe British Parliamentary documents in the M.S.U. Libraries in detail.  The focus is on Parliamentary, legislative, material although towards the end are some directions for identifying non-parliamentary publications. There are three kinds of materials which contain information relative to the legislative process, the House of Commons Sessional Papers, the Parliamentary Debates, and the Journals. The second to last section contains a bibliography of sources on British government documents for users who want more details about these publications than are given here. The last section contains a short list of the most important sets, their dates, and their locations in the Michigan State University Libraries.

Or, you may wish to use the research guides provided by the vendor of the online Parliamentary Papers.  ProQuest's guide to the U.K. Parliamentary Papers is here.
