Finding Books

Food Studies is a growing, interdisciplinary field of interest, encompassing historical, social, cultural, philosophical, political, economic, environmental, and scientific aspects, among others.

Searching the Library Catalog

To locate books on specific topics, search the Library Catalog. Begin with a keyword search (e.g. "food deserts" OR "industrial agriculture" OR "Hispanic Americans and food"); click on a title of interest, and follow the subject links in the cataloging record to locate other books on the same topic.

The library has a large collection of cookbooks; to locate them, use terms such as "cookery and Polish," "cookery and Jewish," "cookery and German," etc. in your keyword search. Some of these will be housed in the Libraries' Murray and Hong Special Collections Department and you will need to visit the Reading Room to use them.
