Keyword Searching

  1. Individual volumes can be searched by going to the "Digitized Volumes" section and performing keyword searches for each volume.
  2. By going to this link, one can do a single search and retrieve the full text from Volumes 1-39 and the official indexes .  Vol. 40 can be searched but it is still under copyright and therefore its full text can not be retrieved.

Searching is a two-step process. You first search the entire collection, then you must search individual volumes. The procedure::

Step #1. Perform your search in the "" box

Step #2: From the results, select the "Full view" option
of each  volume(s) that you want to search.


Step #3: The title page of the selected volume should appear.
Above the title page will be a "Search in this text" box
with your search term in it.
Click "Find"

 



Step #4: The number of pages in the volume that has your search term will be displayed.
Each page in descending order will be listed with snippets of the text
containing your search will be displayed.

 



Step #5: Examine the pages that interest you

Go back to Step #2 and search the next volume that interests you.
