Major Statistical Indexes and Databases: ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the United States

Description of the major multidisciplinary subscription statistical indexes and databases at the MSU Libraries

What is ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the United States?

ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the United States is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic conditions of the United States. It is the first place to look for all statistical queries about any aspect of the United States. If the exact statistics you need are not available, consult the source notes of a table on a similiar topic to identify the relevant producer and publication.

All tables are available for download in PDF and Excel formats.

Starting with the year 2013, this database replaces the Census Bureau publication, the Statistical Abstract of the United States, which was published from 1878-2012. The Census Bureau publication is still available online, from the very first volume through the last, at http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/.

Print copies of the Statistical Abstract are available on 3-West in the U.S. Census collection.

The most recent copy of the Statistical Abstract (from 2013-present published by Bernan Press for ProQuest) is housed in Closed Reference (ask at the Reference Desk)
