Persistent IDs

Persistent identifiers (PIDs) are unique, long-lasting references to a digital resource. They are frequently used to identify articles, datasets, a person, or an organization. Even if the URL for an item changes, the PID stays the same so it helps avoid link rot and makes citing works easier and more reliable. This guide will highlight a few popular PIDs, but please ask Engineering Librarian, Colleen Lyon, if you have questions about other types of PIDs or more specific questions about the PIDs listed here.
