Stable Links for Electronic Resources

This is a how-to guide for creating permanent, stable links to MSU-owned full-text articles from online journals, e-books, and streaming video or other media.

Creating Stable Links in Gale

Some articles that come to us via Gale have DOIs and some do not.

  1. Click on the hyperlinked article title and look for the URL labeled DOI (highlighted in the first image below)
  2. Since the URL includes proxy1.cl.msu.edu, this is your stable link.
  3. If no DOI is provided, click the Get Link button in the upper right corner (highlighted in the second image below)
  4. If the Get Link URL includes any of the proxy information (https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=, proxy1.cl.msu.edu, or proxy2.cl.msu.edu), this is your stable link.  If it does not, you will need to add https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url= to the front of the URL to create your stable link.
