Stable Links for Electronic Resources

This is a how-to guide for creating permanent, stable links to MSU-owned full-text articles from online journals, e-books, and streaming video or other media.

Creating Stable Links in ProQuest

  1. After clicking the link to an article in a ProQuest database, look for the Abstract/Details tab/section. 
  2. Copy the link listed in the Document URL field near the bottom of this area.  For the resource below, this is https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=https://www.proquest.com/scholarly-journals/global-warming-policy-some-economic-implications/docview/219384533/se-2?accountid=12598.
  3. Since the URL includes https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=, this is your stable link. If this link did not include proxy1.cl.msu.edu, proxy2.cl.msu.edu, or https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url=, you would need to add https://ezproxy.msu.edu/login?url= to the front of the URL for it to work correctly.
